Michael won a Disco Contest while in high school which launched his career in ballroom dancing. He immediately landed a position with the Fred Astaire franchised studios and received training to become a professional dance instructor. Michael remained with the Fred Astaire studios for 25 years.

Through his training and teaching with the Fred Astaire franchise, Michael became a professional competitor in the American Smooth division. During his career, he became one of the top ranked American Smooth pro competitors in the 1980s. Upon completion of his professional competitive career, he focused his attention on developing championship level Pro/Am dancers in American Smooth and International Latin divisions. Michael has won many championships in competitions throughout the United States, England and South America.

Michael is nationally certified by the NDCA and Fred Astaire as an instructor for American Rhythm and Smooth as well as International Latin and Standard.

Today, Michael has joined the top professional ballroom dance instructors in the state of Georgia at Academy Ballroom Atlanta as an independent teacher and coach. As of August 2007, Michael has continued his passion for ballroom dancing for 32 years. Michael enjoys training and dancing with students of all levels, from the newest beginners taking their first steps, to enhancing the technique of the top-level advanced dancers.
